Following through on a dream, Avery Wack, 8, got to meet Pastry Chef Dru Tevis at Thompson Island Brewing Company over Fourth of July weekend.

Wack was in town visiting her great-aunt Patrisha Davis of Rehoboth Beach, who submitted a brief report about the experience.

Avery loves to bake and has enjoyed watching the Food Network's annual Holiday Baking Championship series, said Davis. Avery visits every summer and was determined to meet Tevis after he won season 9 of the championship.

“She is a massive - and I mean massive - fan of Chef Dru, who was kind enough to have taken this photo when they recognized him at the next table while visiting me,” said Davis.

Avery and her friends were having dinner when her mother, Jess, recognized Tevis at the next table and asked if he would mind coming over to meet one of his biggest fans.

“Dru could not have been nicer or more generous,” said Jess. “He took the time to meet each child, take pictures, sign autographs and answer questions from the children. Avery is usually very outgoing but was so starstruck from meeting him she could barely speak.”
