Lavender & Lambs Festival expands to two days this June

Brittingham Farms announced recently that their Lavender & Lambs Festival will be a two-day event this year. Last year, Brittingham Farms, located near Millsboro, welcomed more than 1,200 guests to observe sheep-shearing, lavender distillation, yarn-making and more. This year, the Brittingham family announced a complete lineup of events for the festival on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Lavender & Lambs Festival schedule for Saturday, June 21, will include live radio coverage by Dan Gaffney, the shearing of the Brittingham Farms heritage flock of sheep at 10 a.m., yarn spinning by the John Dickenson Spinners Guild, a “Cooking with Lavender” book signing and a cooking demo by Maryland native Nancy Baggett at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Live music will be offered in the pavilion, by Homestead Bluegrass Band.
The Lavender & Lambs Festival schedule for Sunday, June 22, will include a morning yoga session with The Stoke from West Ocean City, Md., at 10 a.m.
Food Network “Holiday Baking Championship” winner Dru Tevis of SoDel Concepts will be doing a culinary lavender baking demonstration at 11 a.m. under the food tent.
At noon, Lewes and Rehoboth Boutique Lilla Cavallo will be offering a fashion show, which will include the farm sheep Charlie.
At 1 p.m. on Sunday, Travis Gilbert, bartender from Fager’s Island, will be doing a cocktail and mocktail demo using culinary lavender. At 2 p.m. the farm sheep Charlie will be sheared by hand, near the distillery, by Delaware 4H Vice President Ainsley West. The history of the Leicester Longwool breed and the history of sheep shearing will be discussed.
The 3rd Annual Delaware Lavender & Lambs Festival also offers 50 local artisan vendors, several food truck and charcuterie options, food tent seating, low-sitting picnic setups, drink sales, including Lavender Riesling from Salted Vines Vineyard benefiting the Capstone Community Foundation, you-pick lavender, demos and tastings, and tours of the farm and essential oil distillery.
